With ASER I’ve learnt that research isn’t simply about the results at the end, but the very act of asking the question is inherently valuable. It has allowed me to encourage growth, one shy smile at a time, raise more questions, and sometimes, to share the joy of reading.
This is what makes ASER Centre so special. While across Delhi enormous traffic jams signal the fact that the city’s inhabitants are out shopping in force, ASER teams across the country are busy making sure that the survey goes smoothly and the data collected is accurate.
One only hears about poverty and low learning levels, but to witness them is a different experience. To know that the country has places that are well developed and equally under-developed is a different window to reality.

Before this trip, Jharkhand was just another state for me. I’m glad I took the decision to go to there because now whenever I would think about nature, peace and clear skies, I’ll remember Jharkhand for it’s beauty, I’ll be reminded of the training centre and the room on terrace for the view, I’ll be reminded of the rock where we sat and saw the calm water, I’ll be reminded of everything that Jharkhand was: BEAUTY AT IT’S BEST.
